The Lord is my Shepherd
     Nevertheless, I want – my list is long!
When He makes me lie down in green pastures
     I complain and want greener ones!
When He leads me beside quiet waters,
     I often call them a turbulent sea.
I know He can restore my soul – my very being,
     but my mind is noise polluted!
Because of my many wants, as a result
     my soul is anything but restored!
I know He guides me in straight paths
     for His name sake.
But very often I don’t want to go His way,
     and I devise ways to walk away for my own name sake!
I want to be the shepherd and to have God be my sheep,
     I want to lead Him!
When I walk through the valley of deep, dark gloom,
     I fear crashing calamities! Why?
Because in my arrogance and pride,
     I forget that He is with me!
Therefore, I feel all the "what ifs," because I forgot that
     Yahweh is The Shepherd,
and I am but a dumb (but loved) sheep!
